Role Overview

The Vice President – Casualty Broker is a senior, market-facing role responsible for leading the design, placement and delivery of complex UK and international casualty insurance programmes for Lockton clients.
Building on the foundations of the AVP role, the VP operates with a high degree of autonomy and authority, acting as a senior technical specialist, lead broker and trusted adviser to clients, insurers and internal stakeholders. The role is accountable for driving placement strategy, insurer engagement and technical quality across casualty programmes, while also contributing to the development of people, market capability and best practice within the casualty function.

The Vice President will work closely with Account Executives, Client Directors and senior Lockton leadership to deliver high-quality outcomes aligned to client risk appetite, commercial objectives and global operating structures.

Key Responsibilities

Client & Programme Leadership

• Lead the design, placement and ongoing management of complex casualty insurance programmes across liability classes, including General Liability, Employers’ Liability and associated casualty risks.
• Act as the senior casualty broker for assigned clients, providing confident, credible advice on programme structure, limits, retentions, pricing strategy and insurer selection.
• Take ownership of placement execution, ensuring delivery aligns with agreed account strategies, client objectives and Lockton standards.
  Play a lead role in client meetings, renewals and programme reviews, providing senior-level technical insight and market leadership.

Market Engagement & Placement Strategy

• Develop and maintain strong senior relationships with casualty insurers across the London Market and international markets, including Europe, Bermuda and the United States.
• Lead insurer negotiations for complex placements, including layered, excess and multinational programmes.
• Monitor casualty market conditions, capacity, pricing trends and coverage developments, translating market intelligence into effective client advice and placement strategy.
• Influence placement strategy and insurer approach across the wider casualty portfolio, sharing insight and best practice.

Technical Oversight & Quality Assurance

• Provide technical leadership across casualty placements, ensuring slips, wordings, endorsements and MRC documentation meet contract certainty, regulatory and Lockton requirements.
• Act as a senior technical escalation point for complex, non-standard or challenging casualty risks.
• Analyse claims experience, loss trends and exposure data to support programme optimisation, renewal strategy and insurer negotiation.
• Support and guide technical reviews of casualty programmes, identifying opportunities for improvement or efficiency.
  
  

Leadership, Development & Contribution

• Mentor and support AVP and junior casualty brokers, contributing to technical development, confidence and progression.
• Share market insight, technical knowledge and best practice through internal collaboration, training and informal coaching.
• Support new business opportunities and RFP activity through senior technical input, insurer strategy and client-facing presentations.
• Collaborate closely with Account Executives, Claims, Analytics and Risk Management teams to deliver integrated, value-driven client solutions.
