Due to continued growth in the team, Lockton Risk Control Services are looking for an experienced claims defensibility/legal consultant, specialising in UK health and safety (H&S) law, to join their Casualty team operating across the UK.

Role Responsibilities:

As a H&S/claims defensibility legal consultant, you will be working with Lockton’s clients across a diverse range of industries, helping businesses to better understand their H&S legal liabilities, and how to proactively improve their defensibility against criminal/civil legal action. The role will include:

• Advising clients on how to improve their defensibility against personal injury/illness claims.
• Providing guidance to clients on how to positively manage regulatory visits/investigations by the HSE/Local Authority/Fire & Rescue Service.
• Helping clients to improve their H&S documentary records to put them in a better position to avoid/defend regulatory action/prosecution.
• Developing and delivering client training sessions, such as on the duties of Directors and Senior Leadership Teams, criminal/civil mock trials, accident investigation, contractor management, etc.
• Building strong working relationships with external clients and the internal client management and broking teams across the Lockton business.
• Helping to develop our Casualty consultancy services as the team continues to grow.

Candidate Profile

Ideally you will be:

• A qualified lawyer or legal executive, specialising in UK personal injury/H&S law.
• Experienced in assisting clients with the defence of civil claims and/or criminal prosecutions.
• Experienced in conducting claims defensibility reviews of H&S documentation.
• Able to clearly explain legal information using plain English language.
• Confident in delivering training courses, including to C-suite audiences.
• Able to produce clear, professional reports for clients, with pragmatic recommendations.
• Comfortable working independently and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Able to build strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and third parties, and have a friendly, supportive, professional approach.
• Based in the South East / London / East Anglia / Midlands area and hold a full UK driving licence.
• Willing to travel to client sites across the UK, including overnight stays where required.
