Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development and Client Service professional to help drive the continued expansion of our Manchester Private Equity Team which has seen impressive year on year growth and is a leader in this exciting area of insurance.

 

The Private Equity team consists of two primary service areas: Transactional Risks and Insurance Due Diligence, both based in Manchester. The team is currently 10 members strong, with plans for continued growth in the coming months.

 

Our core focus is to provide insurance services to Private Equity clients and their portfolio companies. Specifically, the Transactional Risk team places Warranty & Indemnity and Tax Contingent Risk insurance policies, while the Due Diligence team conducts insurance due diligence on transactions.

 

We are looking for a motivated individual who can independently originate deals for the PE team, manage and nurture existing Private Equity relationships and establish themselves as a trusted Insurance and Risk Advisor to the M&A community.

Candidate Profile

Person Specification:

  • Proven Business Development Experience: Strong track record in Business Development and client service, ideally within the M&A market, with a demonstrated ability to independently generate new business and build long-term relationships. Engage and maintain CRM system and effective diary management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with Private Equity professionals and other stakeholders whilst maintaining a superior work ethic, with an acute awareness of time management and transaction deadlines.
  • Client-Facing Experience: Experience working in a client-facing environment, preferably within professional services or related industries. Enjoy networking and socialising with clients at events with a desire and flexibility to travel.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Some experience with insurance products is preferred but not essential. However, a willingness to learn and quickly develop expertise in insurance products and services is crucial.

About The Position

Key Accountabilities:

  • Relationship Management: Develop and consolidate relationships within the Manchester and broader North West M&A community, ensuring consistent engagement and identifying new opportunities for the Private Equity team.
  • Business Development: Proactively seek out and identify new business opportunities, aligning them with the appropriate Lockton teams to generate deal flow and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective deals.
  • Event Organisation: Plan, host and coordinate high-profile industry events to raise the local visibility of the Private Equity team and Lockton brand, driving awareness and engagement with key decision-makers and partners within the M&A ecosystem.
  • Event Management: Take ownership of organising and managing Lockton’s involvement in relevant industry dinners, conferences, and events (e.g., Dealmakers).
  • Collaboration with the wider M&A Team: Lead on new relationship opportunities and collaborate with other members of the Private Equity team (6 in similar roles) and the wider team of 24 to share ideas and intel and promote national initiatives at a local level, ensuring consistency in approach and execution.
  • Marketing and PR: Support and contribute to presentations, conferences, marketing campaigns, and PR initiatives to enhance the team's profile and create new business opportunities.
