Description

Employment taxes:

  • Provide direction and leadership to the business in all employment tax matters, ensuring compliance and tax risks are managed and documented.
  • Lead the exercise to prepare the annual PSA return, working closely with HR, Payroll, Finance to gather data and prepare the report to submit to HMRC.
  • Continuous improvement of processes and controls and subsequent updating of employment tax policies.
  • Be the main point of contact with HMRC for employment tax related matters, including SAO and HMRC Business Risk Reviews.
  • Be the main point of contact with HMRC / In country Revenue authorities internal and external audit teams. Coordinate pre audit requirements, manage activity during and resolve follow up questions.
  • Work with Payroll to manage Short Term Business Visitor Reporting in the UK and any other applicable business traveller returns.
  • Provide support on technical questions on Off Payroll workers.
  • Work with the Global Reward team to provide tax advice on remuneration matters.
  • Provide support to HR on employment tax matters such as:
  • Termination payments
  • Tax treatment of associate benefits and salary sacrifice arrangements, including P11D reporting.
  • Provide training and updates to relevant colleagues/departments on topical issues.
  • Ongoing projects to improve efficiency of and documentation of processes.

 

Expatriate taxes:

  • Support on expatriate tax/remote worker issues and will be the primary point of contact for HR, Payroll and internationally mobile staff to advise on overseas employment taxes and social security issues in the UK. Crucial is being able to provide advice in a concise, practical manner to the HR Business Partners, Payroll, Compliance and the Business Units.
  • Manage the relationship with tax advisers to obtain advice on global employment tax and social security matters, effectively communicating the outcomes and resulting obligations.
    Main point of contact for the internationally mobile staff for tax related matters.
  • Manage international employment tax issues arising from global mobility. This includes managing the process for monitoring movements, liaising with advisors and partnering closely with HR Business Partners on policy and processes.  Managing necessary actions on international cases through to completion.
  • Due to business growth, global mobility is increasing leading to new compliance processes and improvements to the end-to-end process including any technology solutions. Work to deliver this project with HR, Payroll, Tax, Compliance teams.
  • Work closely with the tax team to ensure permanent establishment and VAT considerations are taken into account.
  • Be the main point of contact with in country revenue services, internal and external audit teams. Coordinate pre audit requirements, manage activity during and resolve follow up questions

Candidate Profile

Qualifications:

 

  • CTA or ACCA / ACA qualified and / or with a minimum of four years’ relevant UK employment / expatriate tax experience.

 

Experience required:

 

  • Relevant experience of UK employment tax matters and experience of working with expatriates across multiple countries either working within the Big 4 environment or a similar in-house role.
  • Experience of working with multiple stakeholders. Senior Executives, HR, Payroll, Finance, etc.

About The Position

The Global Mobility & Employment Tax Manager acts as a first point of contact and subject matter expert for expatriate and employment tax issues for Lockton’s UK associates. The role includes, but is not limited, to the following:
