Lockton - Experienced Professional

Title

Operational Governance Manager

Description

About the position

As an Operational Governance Manager, you‘ll be part of a collaborative team accountable for operational and compliance governance across our Retail division, with a particular focus on our Real Estate business.

You’ll be responsible for ensuring the business operates in line with relevant legislation, industry standards and internal policies, and for evidencing that compliance to senior stakeholders.

Working closely with the Head of Compliance & Governance Retail and Real Estate COO you’ll set priorities, identify and escalate risk, and drive corrective action to close gaps.  You’ll also be the initial point of contact for compliance and governance-related queries from the business.

We’re looking for someone who is interactive, approachable and able to build strong working relationships. A team player, but one who is confident in taking ownership, holding others to account on governance standards, making judgement calls under pressure and driving actions forward to get things done.

A good working knowledge of insurance policies, the placement process and the UK regulatory framework is expected.  You don’t need to be a Compliance specialist, your experience could have been gained in a client-facing, insurance operations, governance or change management role.

 Key tasks and responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain effective procedures and controls that align with Lockton’s policies and regulatory responsibilities. Work with the central teams to understand the implications of regulatory change.
  • Implement and oversee practical, effective procedures to manage risks to the business, including financial crime, money laundering, bribery and corruption.
  • Undertake and oversee key operational controls, including approvals relating to account opening and payment transactions.
  • Maintain templates for client service delivery in the placement process.
  • Prepare the business for internal audit and monitor completion of audit actions/recommendations.
  • Review monthly file audit feedback, ensure feedback/actions are addressed and identify opportunities to improve processes.
  • Monitor business performance against relevant KPI’s e.g. monthly audits, breaches, complaints, provide trend analysis.
  • Provide practical training, and guidance to others on what they need to do to meet their responsibilities.
  • Work closely with the business to manage compliance with Product Governance requirements.
  • Oversee operation of Delegated Authorities.
  • Keep up to date with regulatory change and industry best practice, and help the business stay ahead of emerging requirements.
  • Work constructively with senior stakeholders and business teams to identify issues, agree practical solutions and follow through to completion.

Candidate Profile

Skills / Behaviours

  • A good working knowledge of insurance policies, the placement process and the overall regulatory framework in the UK.
  • Good IT skills, including confidence using Excel and PowerPoint.
  • A proactive problem-solver who takes ownership and follows through on actions.
  • An interactive and confident communicator who can build trust, engage colleagues and work effectively with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and keeping momentum.
  • A collaborative team player who is committed to high standards, well organised and focused on delivering practical outcomes.
