Senior Business Partner and Financial Accountant
Description
In line with the firm’s strategy, the Finance department is developing and enhancing its capabilities. The team is modernising and standardising its financial systems and processes in order to ensure efficiency and scalability as the firm continues to grow. This is an exciting time to be part of the firm’s Finance department and we expect new joiners to actively contribute to the development of the function.
Summary of the role
The role is based in London as part of the International Finance team. This role is responsible for delivering finance business partnering to Lockton’s overseas regions (Latin America, MENA, Asia and Pacific). The team is responsible for ensuring that these regions report accurate and timely financial information to the UK as well as overseeing liquidity, funding, business acquisitions and other financial oversight of the overseas locations.
Key Responsibilities of the Role
Financial Accounting and Control
- Reconciliations and analysis of balance sheet accounts
- Preparation of supporting schedules for trial balance and statutory accounts
- Responsibility for the preparation of statutory accounts for a small number of entities, in accordance with GAAP – knowledge of FRS102 and IFRS is preferable
- Liaison with external auditors throughout audit process
- Maintenance of accurate ledgers and ensuring journals raised in line with policies
- Control certain high risk balance sheet areas and production of reconciliations and analytical information so as to ensure appropriate treatments
- Helping ensure that our accounting meets the latest changes in FRS102 and involvement in technical accounting issues as they arise
Management Reporting and Business Partnering
- Provision of timely & accurate management information to Senior Management
- Production of regular finance and board packs including detailed analysis and commentary
- Proactive in suggesting improvements in current management information and working with business, IT, other teams and finance to deliver high quality solutions to meet business needs
- Forming relationships with Overseas Finance functions in order to understand their results, provide them with support and assistance
- Analysing Overseas results and providing support to the local Finance teams
- Reviewing budget submissions from Overseas offices
- Responding to ad hoc queries from Producer to Board level
- Production of strategic KPIs which align interests of business towards the group’s strategic vision
Projects and Ad hoc work - as required
- Actively contributing to strengthening of the Finance team and identifying opportunities to improve processes, controls and analysis
- Engaged in the integration of a new General Ledger system across all entities
Candidate Profile
Qualifications / Educational Requirements
- Good academic background, with strong A levels
- Educated to degree standard – preferable, but not essential
- Qualified accountant: ACA / ACCA / CIMA
Relevant Experience
- Accounting and finance related experience gained in industry or in practice
- Proven ability to drive changes and implement new policies / processes
- Demonstrate ability to work well as a team
- Experience of working in a high paced deadline driven environment
- Preferable exposure to Financial Services but strong Non-Financial Services considered
- Exposure to Finance change projects
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills
