Job Profile

Lockton - Experienced Professional

Title

Wordings Specialist - Specialty

Description

We are looking for a Wordings and Coverage Specialist to join our London office, working within Lockton’s Specialty division.

In this role, you will work closely with brokers, account handlers, and other internal stakeholders to provide technical wordings support across a range of specialty risks. While the role will partner closely with specific specialty practices, including ProExec and Professions PI, it is designed to support the wider Specialty division and maintain breadth across multiple classes.

Lockton’s Wordings Specialists act as a key point of referral for coverage review and analysis, client service development, product development, and thought leadership. The team plays an important role in enhancing Lockton’s client propositions, strengthening credentials in tenders, and supporting effective insurer negotiations.

You will be joining an established and collaborative practice with a strong track record of client retention and new business success, alongside significant opportunity for innovation, immediate impact, and professional development. The structure of the Specialty division allows for flexibility in focus and continued exposure to a broad and evolving risk landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Building strong working relationships across the Specialty division and wider business
  • Providing technical insurance coverage advice across specialty risks
  • Reviewing and drafting coverage input and policy comparisons prior to external release
  • Advising on policy wording queries and drafting endorsements
  • Conducting reviews of Lockton-drafted policy wordings
  • Drafting new Lockton policy wordings and supporting product development initiatives
  • Reviewing contractual liability provisions in clients’ third party agreements and analysing coverage against policy wordings
  • Communicating identified coverage issues to internal stakeholders and clients, with appropriate sensitivity to commercial considerations
  • Contributing to internal training and knowledge sharing, supporting the development of colleagues and associates

Candidate Profile

  • Significant and demonstrable technical insurance expertise in professional and executive risks and/or other specialty lines
  • Personable, enthusiastic, and credible, with a collaborative mindset
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients and internal stakeholders, manage expectations, and keep others informed
  • Highly organised and self-managing, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong research and analytical skills, with attention to detail
  • A team-oriented approach, valuing collaboration and shared success
